Staff Backend Engineer

About the Role

Join a Series C fintech client rebuilding its payments ledger for multi-region scale. You will own core services end to end, set the technical bar for a growing platform team, and mentor senior engineers through a period of rapid growth.

Key Responsibilities

• •Design and own high-throughput backend services powering a regulated payments platform
• •Lead the migration from single-region infrastructure to a resilient multi-region architecture
• •Set standards for observability, testing, and incident response across the platform team
• •Mentor senior and mid-level engineers through design reviews and pairing
• •Partner with product and security to ship a roadmap already committed to customers

Qualifications

• •8+ years building production backend systems in Go, Rust, or Java
• •Direct experience with distributed systems and multi-region data consistency
• •Background in payments, fintech, or another regulated, high-reliability domain
• •Track record of taking services from design through on-call ownership
• •Strong written communication for a remote-first engineering culture
